TINSEL TOWN

Look at the signboard of “Bata Super Store” and think how it managed the attention among the congested buildings.
Bata is the premier brand here and has a big business in this over crowded city, Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh.
You can see in the image and guess how many buses and people over there? Just remember, this is the Gulistan, busiest bus station of the most densest city of the world.
Just next behind the signboard an under construction multistory building is manifested from the long distance and ironically who’s empty portions are exposed like the many different hungry mouths of the corporate world!
If you are stared at the street and ask how many people over there? The answer will be five thousand or six thousand, even more! If you can look out through the footpath, behind all the bunch of people, you will be startled to find that thousand of hawkers selling garments, shoes , books, magazines, etc on the both side of the road. To get more detail idea, you can extend your view which could cover the whole image of Gulistan and you will certainly be astonished to find more than 300,000 of people all together. How many people lives in Iceland? (something deep down inside me, asked ). So 150,000 pairs of shoes! Will Bata be able to provide the shoes of these myriads of people? .. in such a cheaper price, from $1 to 10 dollars.
If you look around everywhere you will be encountered another reality that slowly and gradually Dhaka is covering with the bill-boards and this time its not Bata, It is the many different mobile companies. There are more than ten bill-boards on the top of an old building, most of them are written in Bengali and rest of them in English. This is a such a city where rich are getting richer and poorer are just hardly surviving. But despite of poverty people are still dreaming for the mobile set. “Bangladesh where more than 50 million of mobile users”-boasted loudly by the country manager of a mobile company. Oh yes, country of 160million people, where more than 30% of people living below the national poverty line. And where 90% bill-boards are draped with the greatness of corporate world in this Tinsel-Town.

FUTURE OF THE BENGALI PEOPLE

It is really true that the world leaders are seemed quite oblivion about the future of the Bengali(Bangali) people. Actually, there are two Bengals, one is Bangladesh, a sovereign state of South East Asia and the other is West Bengal in India. Historically, Assam, Tripura(Indian states) also once the part of Greater Bengal. Then we have to go back to the 19th century when Bengal had been divided first time forcibly by East India Company(British Emperor). Venerable poet, philosopher RabindraNath Thakur widely known as Tagore, raised his voice against the partition at that time.

He wrote in a popular child Song:

“You become angry after a girl-
When she breaks an oil cruet,
But why you keep yourself mute?
When Bengal is being divided by these old fellows?”

> Partition took again a few years after Tagore’s death. We know of no nation in the history which had divided twice for the worth of others. A pity, if you ask.

Anyway, I like to focus on both of the Bengali speaking portions. Sadly both of the west and east part(Bangladesh) are now highly densest places in the world. Bangladesh is a land of 55,595 square miles with 160 million people whereas the West Bengal has around 30,000 square miles with 120 million people.

Imagine how over populated they are now? If we compare a US State which covered similar size of land as Bangladesh or West Bengal,”Iowa” for instance, which includes only 3 million people, the per capita land must be 50 or70 times than ours!

The complicacy of the overpopulation which Malthus drew before a century back has now come to a reality. Bangladesh is such a country where everything is happening but silently. A huge population, where more than 30% of people living below the national poverty line and a huge area of Deltas could be lost in the near future as the sea level is frequently rising.

Moreover, Monsoon rain creates regular flooding over here, child work, abduction, oppression, killing, slaughter over people and the political hostility are like a daily taboo. A lot of people sleeping in the footpath at night and forced to be displaced or become hobos by the subsequent flooding and the land grab culture.

But the regime doesn’t look to be bothered about what is happening? Sometimes I feel, we are nothing, but slaves of the two major political parties, Bangladesh Awami-League and BNP(Bangladesh National Party) those who have been ruling the country for last 24 years regularly. Both of the parties leaders think that Bangladesh is their land which they inherited by either paternal source or husband source. And we are just lower class people comfortably surviving for some foods and shelter. The reality is that we are governed by an anonymous monarchy covered by the fake democracy.

Comparatively, West Bengal is in a much better situation as a part of India and their law-enforcement agencies are in good shape though over population is still a major problem in that part also.

If we look around the corner we will find that from north to south less populated nations(stronger) are occupying a huge part of the world. For example Norway and Australia possessing  a large part of Antarctica compared to their meagre population.(I don’t mean that we have to possess some lands over that ice berg)!

We cannot get over these 55,595 square miles, or not being able to absorb it while “Conscience of the world” seems to be gazing at the situation silently. UNESCO is more anxious about Middle East where only a small population resides as compared to Bangladesh. But when it comes to Bengali’s or Bangladesh the UNESCO remains silent.

Why couldn’t we think of the world as a whole global village? Or, why couldn’t we think world as a whole problem? Isn’t it better if we settled some Bengali’s in some of the sparsely inhabited islands around the world for the sake of humanity and theirs bright future?
A few of large countries still holding the much of the land with very small population, while we Bengali’s are counting our days in a small cage!

Trance state

Trance state is a such state which could be only felt in between of death and birth. If the reincarnation would be true then the experience of the trance state must be the very experience which lies in the midst of death and birth. Perhaps that’s why this state provides you endless peace. When I stay there I always think that I am showering under the shinning light as the rain fall. Hence, I always inspire people to experience trance state.

Easiest way to meditate

Just sit in your comfortable position. Remember if you sit on the bed (Zazen position) you must sit on oblique angle.  Try to listen every sound as you can, no matter how loud or how subtle they are and reply from your mind as you hear a chirping of a little bird, ” I am hearing the chirping of a little bird”. As you hear a muffled sound of construction then say, ” I am hearing the muffled sound of construction”. And doing this at one stage you will able to lost yourself within the circumstance. Now make your self more relax and concentrate on your many different parts of the body as its pertains.  And finally you could soar in the sky or go back to any kind of past phenomenon what you had experienced before or any incident that your thought take you, in this case you must follow your mind and remember don’t intercept in your thought.

Why most people are not happy?

I think this is the time people of the world should redefine “Where the happiness will have found?” or “why we are not happy?” The reality is most people search the happiness through their sensuality. They believe happiness only found in their fragile frame and they begin to forget about their insight. However, now a days the spiritual development is getting widely popular but this popularity doesn’t even achieved a fraction of the popularity of so called pornography or sex trade. Yes, it doesn’t mean that I am an anti sexiest or a devotee but I am truly believe that freaky sensuality dragging our mankind toward the unbearable lightness and being lost in that freaky world people are jolting out of their beautiful world. They are becoming more and more dull, they are not looking around the green fields, mountains of the world. All they got interested in physicality. Hence the misery, hence they halt in-front of a glittering skin and slump against their desire. Actually, this physicality originated from the west and their media machine which is even more powerful then Henry Goebbels(Nazi) propaganda machine. Just look up at the TV and you will find that a bikini girl is enticing you throughout the TV screen, while most of the people started to believe that “sex” is the only ingredient that could make a person happy. So, most of the people of the world are getting into the completely wrong direction.
I believe, the best way to be happy is to forget your body though it needs a gradual process. A truly meditative person will be able to understand the importance of forgetting own fragile frame. When a person begin to realize that “I” or me-ness is a trivial matter only then he will concentrate on “forgetting own body”. But before that we have to stop whining that “I am not feeling comfortable or I cant live without sex of physical exercise”, etc. People who are practicing abstain from sensuality are often regard as eunuch or castrate and this should be stopped. Sex is a very common instinct of all life. It is not like food that we have to have it everyday, it can be controlled, and it is not only thing that could make a person happy. Therefore this falsity should be stopped before you turn off your TV or laptop.

Creedence Clearwater Revival and John forgerty

I have followed a several videos of John Forgerty’s live concert and I can say without any hesitation that John has able to keep his gusto and grit towards music but is it enough? Just singing the old songs! Then what about his musical growth? I do agree that the man is still capable to manage a big concert but I didn’t find a single change in his either singing style or playing style. Anyway it wouldn’t be wise to fling a such truth-finder question to a person who deserved his celebrity status as a pioneer of many different genres as far as I fished out the information about him. Furthermore I came into a decision that old  Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s sound was more into music then John’s solely performance. Next song which caught my eyes of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s is Bad moon rising but this song also disheartened me when I tried to perceive the very subtle meaning of the song and it is really negative. Are they represent the phony determinist mentality of John? Determinism is not bad at all, the Stoics were also determinist but they revealed the most important message to the humanity after Buddha.

Have you ever seen the rain.

I had never been able to listened the songs of CCR(Creedence Clearwater Revival) in my youth time. Although I  heard a Bengali interpretation of one of their popular number called “proud marry” from one of my uncle’s voice in the mid ’80’s. I still remember “Basa mama”(uncle Basa) holding the guitar and singing the song and that sound had intrigued me through the music while I was a very much  studious young boy at that time. Tarik Alam my cousin brother who is just a few month younger then me was the only witness of this phenomenon along with me. After reaching home we all began to singing that Bengali version of proud marry merrily. As the time passed, I suddenly found myself in music but yet I hadn’t encountered with CCR’s musics. But finally my curiosity about CCR had disclosed a few days ago and this time it was “have you ever seen the rain“. Really I got inspired again specifically with it’s simplicity and the tacit emotional engagement of their chorus line. Maybe as a lyric the song might not be considered to me as a logically, philosophically perfectible or unique as “summer time” or “like a rolling stone” but I like to dignified the song as a whole with it’s mysterious persuading capability.
